Well, after two whole years, the Dark Passion Play tour is finally over. The tour ended with a bang at the Hartwall Areena in Helsinki, the site of the infamous last concert with Nightwish's former lead singer, Tarja Turunen. Let's hope the same fate does not befall our lovely Anette!

The setlist was as follows:
1.Intro (Finlandia w/ Troy Donockley)
2.7 Days to the Wolves
3.Ever Dream
4.Wishmaster
5.Romanticide
6.Amaranth
7.The Siren (ft. violinists)
8.While Your Lips Are Still Red (ft. violinists)
9.The Poet and The Pendulum
10.Nemo
11.Sahara
12.Dark Chest of Wonders
13.The Islander (w/ Troy Donockley)
14.Walking in the Air (Acoustic w/ Troy Donockley)
15.Last of The Wilds (w/ Troy Donockley
16.Meadows of Heaven (w/ Gospel Choir)
Encore:
17.Ghost Love Score
18.Wish I Had An Angel
19.Outro: The Heart Asks Pleasure First
This was the first time the band had performed Walking in the Air with Anette on vocals, and the very first time that the band played Meadows of Heaven with the entire band present.
The Heart Asks Pleasure First, a Michael Nyman cover, was an unreleased song that was supposed to appear on Dark Passion Play, but the band never got permission from Nyman to release it.

Anette is going to answer MORE of our questions! yay!
Want to ask her something? Just leave a comment on her blog post and she may just answer it! Just go through the comments and make sure it hasn't already been asked.
Hopefully answers will be up by the end of the week. We'll definitely post a link somewhere on this site.
Also, enjoy some videos from the most recent Nightwish gig in Moscow!

Anette has decided that, in the next year or so, while Nightwish is on break from touring, she will try and release a solo album, just to keep herself busy, just as the other members of Nightwish will take part in their own side projects.
Thankfully this does NOT mean that she will leave Nightwish or put them anywhere other than at the top of her list. It will still be her first priority.
Anette has met with a very famous songwriter/musician Anders Bagge, with whom she will collaborate.
We were there to talk about a collaboration to make songs for a solo album for me, now when I have a break from Nightwish. I am looking forward to do songs now and I believe this will be great

Read more on Anette's collaboration and about her idea for a solo album here and here.
Needless to say, controversy arose right away, as fans began to speculate that Anette is going solo for good of the album takes off. But, as Anette said herself:
And about Nightwish, you all know I love that band and of course this is not a solo career, but an album. I cant sit and do nothing for maybe 1.5- 2 years. None of the guys can either. Marco has Tarot and several other bands and projects, Emppu Brother Firetribe and projects, Tuomas bands and projects and Jukka his merch company. So, I need something too. And I dont want another band, cause I have Nightwish. Then a solo will be just perfect. I can decide when and what I will tour or perform, all in the aspect of when Nightwish will do something new. We dont know that. Its all in Tuomas hands and he is the creator. We are the instruments.
Let's all take her word for it, then. No word yet on what the other members of Nightwish are thinking.

Someone decided to write a review and publish some pictures of the amazing two shows that Nightwish put on at the Olavinlinna castle in Savonlinna, Finland. You can read the review here
And here you can take a look at the wonderful gallery!
Also, a rather recent interview with Marco can be found at this location.

Anette was interviewed just before her performance at the Suomi Safari festival. In it, she reflects on the past two years with Nightwish and talks a bit about the future for her and the band, about her family and her life, and about protein pancakes!
There are three parts to this interview and all can be found below!

Timo Seppäläinen made a slide show with some pictures and recordings of the concert...no real video, though. Both are in WMV format.
I'm going to attemtp to post the links here. Lets see if it will work.
If not, check them out on the band's website!

Today, Anette sung two songs at Stockholm Kulturfest during the Suomi Safari segment which is to celebrate Swedish-Finnish relations.
This was Anette's first time singing Nightwish songs without the rest of the band, although I think they're in the audience (the guy at the front taking pictures looks suspiciously like Jukka XD)
When we first learned about this gig, Anette told us that she would sing one song that's never been sung live before, and one song that's never been sung live by her. She also mentioned that she would sing backed with a real orchestra and choir. After much speculation, we found out that most of the rumors were true. The songs were "Meadows of Heaven" (oh how proud we at this site feel right now XD) and "Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijian". Watch the footage below, also available in HD

Our personal comments:
- Anette Olzon, you are an amazing singer!
- This footage of Meadows of Heaven makes us feel so awesome that we are putting it up on the front page
- Anette, we love you, but your Finnish could use some work XD.

Anette Olzon's cat, Kulan, died today. She is very distraught, as you can imagine.
Go wish her well on her blog. Our hearts here are with her and Kulan who is now in Kitty Heaven.

Sorry I've been away guys! Here are some Nightwish updates.
A few cool things from Nightwish's gig at the Artmania festival in Sibiu, Romania.
1. An interview with Tuomas (here)
2. Videos of the press conference (here)
And here is an interview from the Graspop festival, from a while ago.
Also, Anette's cat, Kulan, is very sick at the moment. Anette is a bit distraught at the moment, so please go to her blog and leave your best wishes to her and Kulan, who she has had longer than her own son!

Recently, Nightwish played a successful gig at the M'era Luna festival, with only one mishap with the PA system.
And I believe that is all for now.
