Nightwish is a metal band originating from Kitee, Finland. They are hard to classify, as their music varies from power metal to symphonic metal to gothic metal. What truly characterizes the band is their use of female vocals. Although their former singer, Tarja Turunen, sang in an operatic style, new Nightwish vocalist Anette Olzon, from Sweden, has more rock-oriented vocals. Nightwish will soon finish their collossal Dark Passion Play tour that started in Tel Aviv, Israel, in October of 2007. They will play their last show of the tour at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland, and will afterwards take time off to work on the new album, supposedly due sometime in 2010
